The Temple of the Sacred Heart
In 1886, a parcel of land was offered to the top of Tibidabo to John Bosco, founder of the Congregation of the Salesian order to build a temple dedicated to the Sacred Heart. In 1902 construction began of the great expiatory temple completed around 1961. This is a monumental neo-Gothic style and topped with a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart, performed by Enric Sagnier. If you want to enjoy breathtaking views of Barcelona, you can do so through a special elevator that was built and you will reach the top of the temple, situated at 575 meters.
